Located 22 Kilometers to the North of Nicoya City in the province of Guanacaste, this park has an extention of 2.295.5 hectares. The Barra Honda hill, of about 300 meters of height, is constituted by limestones of arrecifal type, it is, by old reefs that emerged due to a overrise caused by tectonic faults, developed about 60 million years ago. Barra Honda hill has an ample caverns system, independient each from another. Among the 19 caverns that has been explored, Santa Ana Cavern is the deepest one with 240 meters of depth. There are no a rich wild life, just some deers, monkeys, coyotes and other can be seen.
