CARRILLO
San Jose
|
This park is dedicated to the Meritorious Son of the country, Braulio
Carrillo, third Chief of State of Costa Rica (1835-37 and 1838-42),
who did his best to create a way that communicate the Central Valley
with Matina, in the Caribbean Coast. This park consists of 45.899.2
hectares in one of the zones of more irregular topography of the country.
The landscape is constituted by high mountains densely covered with
forests and innumerable rivers. The topography and the high precipitation,
about 4,500 mm in average per year, give rise to the formation of infinity
of cascades. Here you will find many sleepy volcanoes, an evergreen
vegetation, mammals such as pumas, tigers, monkeys and many others.
Also a huge variety of birds and reptiles live here.
