This park is located on the Central Volcanic Range and it is protecting
a vast water resources. Among its 2.309 hectares is its higest point
at 3.432 meters above sea level. There are really five craters, the
most important of which are the Principal, 1.050 meters in diameter
and 300 meters deep, and Diego de la Haya, 690 meters across and 80
meters deep. A trail takes visitors right to the edge of both craters.
Irazú is an active volcano and its last eruption was from 1963 to 1965.
An excellent highway leads to the Park entrance, and guidance is offeres
at the information both.
