This Biological Reserve is located in San Ramón de Bagaces, and covers 2,279 hectares of Dry Tropical Forest which is rich in insects specially 250 species of bees, wasps and 60 of butterflies. One of its most amazing characteristics is the abundant presence of water, even during the dry season, with rivers, creecks and manantials. Also this reserve has 4 different types of forests, the hoisted savannah, the evergreen forest, the ripario forest that is next to the water sources and the dry tropical forest, being this last the one of greater extension. The mammals are not abundant, nevertheless, white tail deer, white-faced and Howler monkeys, raccoons, pizotes, squirrels and lions among others can be observed. It exists in addition, a great number of reptiles and fishes. As far as the birds, in this area approximately 130 spices have been observed, being most characteristic yellow forehead parrots, king of buzzards and the black toucan or curré.
