The Poas Volcano National Park envelops
6.508 hectares. The highest point is at 2.708 meters above sea level,
and there are two summits: the main crater, 1.3 kilometers wide and
300 meters deep, and the Botos lagoon with a diameter of 400 meters.
The largest eruption was on January 25, 1910, and the last eruption
was from 1952 through 1954. The whole area is of oustanding scenic beauty.
In the Park you may find drinking water, restrooms, exhibition rooms,
and auditorium for 150 persons, cafeteria, parking area, picnic
area, lookout points and trails.
