Monteverde Horseback Ride
Code: CRWT-20

We will pick you up in La Fortuna, or from your hotel in the Arenal area at 7:30 am. We will proceed to meet the rest of the group and continue to the Dam. After a 20 minute-ride by mini bus, we reach the dam of Lake Arenal to board a covered passenger boat, for a fun 15 minutes cruise with great views of the active volcano and the lakeshores. We will cross the lake to a certain place where local guides and horses are waiting for you to start this exciting horseback ride for approximately 3½ hours, climbing 1,200 meters (3,600 feet) from the lake to the Continental Divide, to the Monteverde Mirador. We will ascend to the Cloud Forest through this spectacular old mountain trail that was used by local farmers during past decades by doing 3 river crossings, and riding trough part lush forest, part magnificent open views of the volcano, the lake, and the surrounding mountain range. While you enjoy the surrounding nature, from time to time our guide explain you some important information about Costa Rica s’ fauna, flora and its people. Then we will proceed to a place where a 4 X 4 car will be there waiting for to bring you directly to your hotel in the Monteverde Cloud Forest area, or to the center of the village of Santa Elena if you don't have a hotel reservation. There are several budget lodging possibilities within a few minutes walk in town.
