Adventure Float
Code: CRWT-5
Along the way it is possible to see two species of sloths, three types
of monkeys, spectacled Owls, three species of Toucans, crocodiles, Jesus
Christ Lizards, caiman, different colored iguanas, mammals, and a variety
of birds. We start with a brief 20 minute drive to the lower Peñas
Blancas River in an air-conditioned van. From there we launch inflatable
rafts on this slower moving section of the river. Enjoy a relaxing 2 hour
float with no motor, only the incredible sounds of nature around you.
Our expert bilingual naturalist guide will describe the many different
flora and fauna of the region.
The second part of the tour includes a stop at the farm of Don Pedro.
This is the highlight of the trip for most tourists. Shake his hand; calloused
from many years of hard work. He has endured 65 years on what most considered
useless farmland, and without roads, electricity, or running water. Our
guide will translate as you enjoy a visit with this fascinating man. His
family will prepare wonderful Tico dishes that you will not find in local
restaurants.

Next we journey into the Primary Tropical Rainforest along his farm
if
the weather permits. You will be surrounded by trees over 100 hundred
years old as we look for more animals including the Blue Jean
Poison Dart Frog. Our guide will educate you on the many medicinal purposes
of plants in the rainforest. We also stop at the Jail Tree
where you can see one of the smallest flying mammals in Costa Rica. You
will also learn of the interesting relationship/comparison between frogs
and humans.
Finally we re-board the rafts for our final 40 minute float to Boca Arenal
while we continue to enjoy the scenery. The return trip to La Fortuna
allows you to see the extensive agriculture system of San Carlos County.
