This is the most
important road network for tourism in thecountry. The scenic ride
takes travelers up through high mountains and then down to vast
lowlands, touching colorful little towns and small cities. This
is also the route to Costa Rica´s most coveted beaches and
ecotourism sites.
Three different ferry routes and a new
bridge help shorten distances. At the La Irma stopping place,
taxis pick up tourists riding buses and take then to Monteverde. The
Daniel Oduber International Airport, near to Liberia city, serves
multiple commercial airlines. In fact it is second to the Juan Santamaria
Airport in San Jose in case of bad weather or other impediments. Liberia
and Santa Cruz have excellent hotels and all services drivers may
