Puntarenas is the largest province in Costa Rica and it is home for great attraction such as Port Caldera which has become the most important port of call for some of the major cruise liners, the beaches of Jaco, Quepos, Manuel Antonio, etc.
Being the coutry's most important fishing port, Puntarenas is the perfect place to enjoy fresh seafood, be it camarones al ajillo (shrimp scampi), pescado entero (a whole fried fish), or ceviche de corvina (bits of fresh fish marinate in lime juice with onions, peppers and spices).

It has traditionally been the Costa Rican´s favorite beach and continues to attract countless visitors despite the many new tourist developments on the Pacific Coast. Key attractions are the musical festivals, El Paseo de los Turistas the (board- walk) with its many famous ice creams fountains and discotheques, restaurant and cafes lining the beach, where you may calm the 28ºC temperature of the City.
