Guápiles has a tropical humid climate with temperatures between 24 y 25ºC. Its name was took because of the two rivers that border the city, Guápiles means "GUAPE" (Twins in English). The city is part of Pococí County. Banana’s plantation was the development sustain of the zone, plus the construction of the train between Siquirres and San José.
The economy in Guápiles is mainly based on agricultural activities, blessed with a lot of rivers, like Reventazon and Parismina, where the adventures practice river rafting, also assisted by the establishment of the Central Volcanic Range Forest Reserve protecting a huge diversity of flora and fauna.
To get to Guápiles you need to cross Braulio Carrillo National Park on the highway of the same name in a trip of 1 ½ hours approximately full of nature wonders.
