Ujarras Valley was the place where the first city was settled in our
country by the spanish. They opted for this valley because it was the
most secure place against the pirates that ruled the Carribean Sea and
Pacific Ocean. This ruins are the witnesses of the first church that
was built in Costa Rica in the XVII century, and they can be considered
as the most valuable colonial jewel of the country. Beside the ruins,
the Costarican Tourist Bureau (ICT), has built a recreational area in
front of the lake where you can enjoy nautic activities, green areas
to rest and picnic areas to enjoy your meals.
