Orosi Valley & Lankaster Garden

This half day trip combines history with a beautiful sightseeing; first the coffee plantations of Tres Rios and the impressive mansions of one of the most exclusive residential zone in Costa Rica, "Lomas de Ayarco". To get to the Valley of Cartago, we have to cross the Ochomogo Mountains, place where the last fight of the revolution of 1948 was won and also passing the Continental Divide. Once at Cartago we will visit the "Ruins de Cartago"; an old church that shows the effects of earthquakes since the year of 1600 as well as proudlyshowing the "Bell of Independence". You visit the "Basilica De La Virgen De Los Angeles" which was built in 1742 and is the home for the patron saint of Costa Rica. The tour continues around the lake of Cachi, up to the Dam and then to the ruins of Ujarras; the second church built in Costa Rica. On the way back to San Jose we will see the Bridal's Veil Waterfall. Then you will visit a magnificent botanical garden founded by The Scientific Studies Lankester with adequated habitats as home for many species of tropical plants, including a large collection of delicate orchids.
