Leaving your hotel in San Jose early in the morning, get ready to admire the biodiversity of a wonderful rain forest as you pass through Braulio Carrillo National Park on the way to Tortuguero where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast. If there is availability, you would be witness of banana processing and packing directly at a boxing plant. Then board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise echant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero Canals a place full of a breathtaking flora and fauna, where you will take a close look to crocodiles, white-faced river turtles, howler and spider monkeys, jaguars, ocelots, sloths, neotropic river Otters, numerous species of fish, including Gaspar fish, which is said to be a "Living Fosil" and countless colorful birds that shelter in this jungle. One of the aspects that makes Tortuguero a special place is that it is one of the few nesting sites in the world to The Green Turtle (Chelonia Midas).
